HVN USA Facilitator Trainers Lisa Forestell and Marty Hadge recently presented a webinar for Hearing Voices Network of Lower Hudson Valley, New York. This webinar is now available for replay online for free. It is about one hour in length. Among other things, it covers the history, values and ethics of the HVN approach. Lisa and Marty also share personal stories regarding their own experiences with voice hearing, how it affected their interactions with others inside and outside the traditional mental health system, and experiences participating in and facilitating HVN USA groups. There is also a great Q&A session at the end.

Initially, we had really hoped to further diversify our geographical representation. However, applications continued to lean heavily toward the Northeast and so the Board collectively decided to prioritize active energy to participate above geography for this round. Although geographic representation is critical, right now we're at a stage where building energy and momentum is the most essential next step and we hope that geographic diversity will follow.
That said, a couple of spots remain open, and the Board has determined that it will only accept applicants from outside of the Northeast for the foreseeable future.
'Experiences of hearing voices: analysis of a novel phenomenological survey', The Lancet Psychiatry, March 2015
The results from a new research study about the experiences of hearing voices have been published. This study was a collaboration between Hearing the Voice and the Lived Experience Research Network.
"Completed by 153 people (including 26 who have no history of mental illness), our open-ended online questionnaire aimed to strip away assumptions about what we think voice-hearers are experiencing, and instead ask people to describe what it is like to hear voices in their own words."

A few folks from our community travelled to Liverpool, England this summer to attend the INTAR 2014 conference (International Network Toward Alternatives and Recovery). The theme of this year's conference was "Power to Communities: Healing through Social Justice." Evan Goodchild made an audio recording of Jacqui Dillon's Keynote speech: Recovery as Social Action: The Personal is the Political.
Jacqui Dillon is the National Chair of the Hearing Voices Network in England. She has also helped develop HVN USA and has been involved in our Facilitator Trainings.
