The focus of our group is opening up and sharing, without judgment, our personal experience of voice hearing, and other sensory experiences, with the goal of acceptance, mutual support and seeking out constructive methods of working and living with these experiences.

This is a self-help group and not a clinical group offering treatment. Members are not subject to referral, follow up or risk assessment.

Although one of the current co-facilitators is a mental health professional, she is engaged in the group as an ally, not as a professional or expert.

We have devised the following
Group Principles:

We accept that voices and visions are
real experiences.

We make no assumption of illness and
accept people as they are.

Each member has the freedom to
interpret experiences in any way and to challenge social norms.

Confidentiality is essential and it is the responsibility of every member. The
group will come to a consensus decision about any limits to confidentiality, for
example if there is a life threatening emergency.

Only people who identify as voice
hearers and /or who have other unusual
or extreme sensory experiences are
permitted in the group. However, an ally of voice hearers may be permitted to co- facilitate the group with a voice hearer.

Mutual respect for all group members
is essential. No criticisms, insults or
threats will be tolerated.

Please try to be sober during the meetings.

Everyone has the right to speak and to
not speak.

What is it like to live with voices, visions, wild energy, and extreme states of consciousness? This peer-run group asks what these experiences mean to each of us and how can we learn to accept and live with who we are. We discuss ways to cope with the isolation of our lives, deal with crisis, and discover new ways of seeing "madness." Are there creative and spiritual sides to what we go through? Do we have to define ourselves as having diseases, or are there other ways of understanding? Come learn what mental diversity all about.



Open to people who hear voices, see visions, experience extreme states, and have unusual beliefs, including mental health diagnosis of bipolar, schizophrenia, and psychosis. Inclusive, non-judgmental, pro-treatment choice and pro-diversity. People taking medications, not taking medications, and exploring alternatives including coming off medications are welcome.

Come to meet others, learn how to regain control of our lives, and explore the meaning in madness.

This group is a safe, accepting, peer‐led place to share and explore experiences such as hearing voices, having visions, and unusual or extreme states of consciousness.

• · What does it mean to have these experiences?

• · Are they best thought of as illness, or as a reaction to trauma, or as spiritual, or as a possibly valuable part of mental diversity?

• · What are the most helpful ways of coping with and of solving the problems they sometimes cause?

• · Is it possible to transform one’s relationship to the experiences so that life can go on as well or better than before the experiences began?

This group is open to everyone who hears voices, sees visions, experiences extreme states and/or has unusual beliefs, whether or not a person has a mental health diagnosis or takes medication.  The group aims to be inclusive, non-judgmental, pro-treatment choice and pro-diversity.

We maintain a broad view on human experience. Distress and extreme states are seen as expressions of sensitivity, difference, or vulnerability. They are real, meaningful, and connected to life experiences. The more extreme the experience, the more extreme the response may be. An extreme state can be a way of trying to process and make sense of experiences.
The group is expressly for individuals who have had mental illness/madness/extreme state experiences. Support people are welcome as needed by the individuals.

This longstanding group meets on Mondays from 3:30 - 5:00 PM at the Friends Meetinghouse at the corner of Jacoby and Swede Streets, enter from Jacoby side. Norristown, PA 19401.  It is free and open to all voice hearers.  Sponsored by Creating Increased Connections through Education and Support.

This is a Hearing Voices Group especially for young people and meets every Tuesday from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM in Hatboro, PA.

It is open to any young person who experiences voices, visions, tactile or other sensate experiences not shared by others. We are a small, welcoming group, self-directed and open to new ideas. The Group is facilitated by voice hearer, Berta Britz.

We are a small, welcoming peer support group. We work on making sense of our voices and our lives by building trust and a sense of community and caring. We share our experiences and grow to take back our power and claim our lives. We meet in a building that is part of a community general hospital; however we are not affiliated with the hospital in any way. Facilitated by a voice hearer, Berta Britz.

We are a new group welcoming all people who hear, see, or sense things that other people don't. People who have beliefs and ideas that others don't share are also warmly included. We share our experiences with voices and with life. Our aim is to take back our power and claim our lives. We support each other in making meaning from our experiences. This is a group offered at the Spring Lake Ranch. The ranch is a recovery facility built to help individuals with addiction recovery and mental health issues. We created this group thanks to a training offered here last spring. For more information about the Ranch please see our website springlakeranch.org.

This is a support group for people who are living with voices. Group members share their experiences in a confidential environment with others who understand because they've been there. There is full acceptance of the variety of experiences and members help each other find ways to cope and to enhance their quality of life.

Although 1 in 10 people hear voices, many choose not to talk about them due to fear of judgment and stigma. A Hearing Voices Group is a place where people can meet to talk about their experiences without such concern. It offers mutual support and friendship, with the opportunity to explore your experiences and learn from others with similar stories. Hearing Voices is real. This group takes place in Amherst at Colonial Village off of South Street.  To find the group, go to the outside door leading to apartments 16-17. The inside door is on the left, on the first floor. Once in the lobby, the door to the room we use is on the left also.
