Dear Friends,
The Hearing Voices Network-USA Board is embarking on an exciting project to gather creative works that will broaden understanding of the voice-hearing experience and celebrate our community’s rich lived experience in all of its beauty, terror, and everything in between. We will publish these works in books and online.
We are requesting personal narratives and creative submissions of prose, poetry, art, and music (guidelines available in a PDF document and at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), from all frameworks and cultural backgrounds, that represent our individual and collective experiences of voices, visions, and other unusual phenomena. Submissions may be published with your real name, anonymously, or under a pseudonym. We are available to help with development and editing of longer narratives, including interviewing you, if that’s how you’d prefer to share your experience.
Please share your story and experiences with us through the medium of your choice. Our goal is to allow people to see, hear, and feel the different ways in which our community understands and relates to their experiences and the world. A few guiding questions to help your process are available through the attached PDF document or by e-mailing This email address is being protected from spambots. The deadline for submitting a story or essay is a two-part process, first submitting a 300-350-word summary by October 25, 2020. If accepted, the full, completed submission will be due on Sunday, January 10, 2021.
For all other formats (art, music, etc.), we also ask that you send us a brief proposal describing what you plan to submit by October 25, 2020. The deadline for the actual submission is also Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Warmest regards,
